Missing US helicopter spotted at Ghorthali, Sindhupalchowk

Kathmnadu : The missing US Marine Corps’ UH-1 Y Hui helicopter was found at Ghorthali VDC of Sindhupalchowk district today, the Nepalese Army said. - The helicopter was spotted in a crashed situation by the ground troops of the Nepalese Army. Two army helicopters were dispatched to the area for a search after the ground troops got the information that the helicopter had met with an accident at Ghorthali. The two helicopters spotted the missing chopper at Ghorthali at an altitude of about 11,200 feet towards the north-east of the Kalinchok hill. Eight US soldiers and two Nepali soldiers were on board the missing helicopter. It had gone missing since Tuesday evening.

The chopper had been taken on search and rescue mission towards Sunkhani area of Dolakha district following the Tuesday’s tremor.

The Nepalese Army has said the ground troops of the Nepalse Army would be sent to the crash site and aircraft when the weather improves.

The helicopter had gone on a search and rescue operation for the quake victims to Dolakha district. A detailed report of the found helicopter is yet to come out. RSS
